In September 2016 Don Brash formed a new lobby group called Hobson's Pledge. The group advocates that New Zealanders should be equal before the law, irrespective of when they or their ancestors arrived in New Zealand. The group takes its name from William Hobson, the first Governor of New Zealand and co-author of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Over ten years Hobson's Pledge has launched numerous successful campaigns and grown in support and influence.
As of 2026, Don remains a trustee and actively involved.
